Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are informing you of an upcoming pupil-free day to fall on Tuesday the 14th of June. This is the day after the Queen’s birthday public holiday.
Question: Why the extra pupil-free day in Term Two?
Answer: The Victorian government has recently reached an in-principle agreement with the teaching union to replace the current enterprise agreement which will see professional practice days continue for teachers. As such, the department recommends schools hold their professional practice day for teachers on the same day in Term 2. The department wishes to minimise the interruption to students learning by having one day interrupted in Term 2. Each school has been allowed to choose the date for this to fall on.
Professional practice days are separate to the staff professional development days that occur every term. Wodonga Middle Years College and Wodonga Senior Secondary College will both schedule the professional practice day on the same day.
