After the ceremony, students were invited to attend a smoking ceremony with Uncle Dixie Patten conducting the ceremony by using a hollowed out log and Gum tree leaves to make a thick smoke, Fire is a symbol of healing in Aboriginal culture and green gum leaves symbolize reconciliation. In Aboriginal culture smoke wards off bad spirits and nullifies evil in the world around us.
